Life's curveballs

At the beginning of each year I have a pretty set vision of what the year ahead will look like. I try to set a goal or two and just hope that by the end of the year I have reached that goal. However the last few years have definitely not gone as envisioned as life seems to throw curveballs my way.

In 2008 we started the year by trying to emigrate to NZ, by the end of the year after all attempts failed the plan changed and before the close of that year we were pregnant.

2009 went a bit more according to plan and the life changing event of having a baby was all that came our way.

2010 was suppose to be a relatively calm year for us, finding our feet with this whole parenting thing and just generally settling into life as a family of 3. Roll on August and before we could say 'Bob's your uncle' Terence had a job offer in New Zealand and 3 months later he was on a jetplane onto the new adventure. That was definitely not in my vision when 2010 started.

2011 came around and we figured that since we were new to New Zealand we would spend this year getting to know our way around, making new friends, seeing new sights and just generally settling into our new life as Kiwi's. "Nah-uh" said the universe and mid way through February our curveball arrived. I was pregnant with baby number 2.

2012 has just started and only a few weeks ago we had said this was the year for saving and that we would just get into the hang of being a family of 4 this year. But yet again life's curveball came a knocking on my door and by 9am this morning I had somehow been seduced into buying a groupon voucher for a web design course. So this year on top of easing into life with 2 kids I will be studying.

I guess by now I should have learnt that life doesnt always go according to plan and surprisingly I am thankful for that :-)

  1. Ha-ha, no life certainly doesn't always go as planned. But at least it does keep us on our toes! Keep us posted on how the course goes! I'm sure you'll do great!
